Visitors will see the LDX C150, the LDX 150 running in new 6X speed 1080p HDR/WGC mode, and the industry workhorse LDX 92 running in single speed 1080p HDR/WGC mode at the event.
At the IBC 2023 Show, Grass Valley will introduce its latest generation of LDX broadcast camera systems, designed to deliver picture quality in UHD/4K, 1080p high dynamic range (HDR), and wide colour gamut (WCG) modes. These cameras offer compatibility with SDI, NativeIP SMPTE ST 2110, or JPEG-XS native compression.
One of the standout offerings is the expanded LDX 100 Series, featuring the new LDX C150 compact form factor of the LDX 150 studio camera platform. This addition simplifies the transition from HD/UHD-SDI to NativeIP/SMPTE ST 2110 acquisition, catering to evolving broadcasting needs.
IBC attendees will have the opportunity to witness demonstrations of Grass Valley’s latest camera innovations, including the new 6X speed 1080p HDR/WCG mode available in both the LDX C150 and LDX 150 cameras. The entry-level LDX 92, suitable for cost-effective live sports and events coverage, is also part of the showcase.
The exhibit spotlights the LDX C135, a compact version of the full-size LDX 135 studio camera, along with the latest Camera Shading Control Panel and Tablet Application. These advancements allow for local and remote colour grading, facilitated by Grass Valley’s cloud-native AMPP (Agile Media Processing Platform), opening new avenues for production workflows.
Additionally, Grass Valley has announced a new camera viewfinder set to be available at the end of the year. This viewfinder streamlines the work of camera operators, offering HDMI and SDI video inputs alongside standard viewfinder/camera cables. It also includes a direct DC power input via a 4-pin XLR input.
Speaking about the participation and exhibiting at the IBC event, Adam Marshall, Chief Product Officer for Grass Valley, said: “To realise this aggressive ROI, customers now strive to run their cameras whenever and wherever they can. The key to maximising camera utilisation is having all the features users need in the camera head, along with the option to license additional capabilities as they need them, such as high-speed modes, UHD/4K and/or IP ST 2110. Our LDX 100 Series camera platform exemplifies this flexibility by letting our users choose between basic SDI and IP configurations today, and then license the higher-end capabilities they may need, on a pay-as-you-go basis.”
Grass Valley continues to enhance its existing product lines, such as the LDX 92, tailored for live broadcast applications like sports, news, and special events. The LDX 150 now offers support for 6X 1080p HDR/WCG resolution, in addition to its previous 3X UHD capabilities.
Paul De Bresser, Product Manager for Broadcast Cameras at Grass Valley, added: “Shaders can now move around a venue or stand at the front of the house and see how their colour grading is impacting the video on the big screen displays. They can also get feedback while being next to on-site creatives at the front of the house, adjusting image parameters to ensure that everyone gets the exact look they want on large LED screens, such as during a concert.” New at IBC 2023, Creative Grading is now even easier with a new standalone option for the CGP500 panel, offering the ability to connect directly with a camera head without the need for server infrastructure.
“Given the complement of new models, functions and features in our camera lineup, we intend to leave no doubt that we’re fully committed to serving the Media & Entertainment industry’s need for best-in-class broadcast camera systems,” De Bresser stated.
Under the theme “Anytime, Anywhere, Any Way,” Grass Valley underscores its commitment to the Media & Entertainment industry. They emphasise the unification of traditional hardware and cutting-edge software-driven solutions through their GV Media Universe.
Grass Valley CEO Louis Hernandez Jr noted: “With our GV Media Universe, and the scalability and upgradeability of our hardware and software products across the board, customers can now custom-configure their workflows based upon whichever traditional, hybrid or cloud approach best serves their needs today, and well into the future.”
