Vistors will be able to explore the R&S TH1, a comprehensive technology showcase featuring DAB+ and other Rohde & Schwarz product demonstrations at the event.
Rohde & Schwarz is set to unveil the latest advancements in television and radio transmission technology at IBC 2024, which will take place from September 13 to 16 in Amsterdam. The company will demonstrate how its innovative designs enhance transmitter efficiency, open new business opportunities for broadcast network operators and support sustainability initiatives.
A highlight at the exhibition will be the R&S TH1 liquid-cooled high-power transmitter, known for its adaptability to evolving requirements and operational models. The improved amplifier design of the TH1 transmitter boasts a significant 15% reduction in power consumption compared to other current designs, enhancing energy efficiency. The transmitter’s liquid cooling system efficiently disperses over 90% of the generated heat to the external atmosphere, further lowering energy demands and overall ownership costs. Additionally, the R&S TH1 supports terrestrial transmission via 5G Broadcast to mobile devices, catering to new use cases such as live event broadcasting, IoT data delivery and automotive industry applications.
Rohde & Schwarz, a long-standing leader in DAB+ technology since the 1990s, continues to serve millions across Europe with its advanced transmitters like the THV9evo, TMV9evo and TLV9. These transmitters offer better signal quality and a high transmitter efficiency of 50%, resulting in reduced operational costs. At IBC 2024, the company will introduce a DAB+ efficiency calculator, an interactive tool allowing users to input their data and calculate potential savings in real-time.
Steven Edwards, Vice President, Broadcast Distribution, said: “We are trusted in the broadcast industry as the leader in technology and innovation across terrestrial, 5G Broadcast and DAB+. We take our responsibility to innovate both technically and sustainably, very seriously.
“At IBC we will dedicate a space on our stand for a range of presentation sessions together with partners, based on the success we had with our 5G Broadcast sessions at last year’s show.”
In addition to terrestrial and DAB+ solutions, Rohde & Schwarz will present advanced technologies for satellite and ground station operators. These include the compact R&S PKU100 Satellite Uplink Amplifier for Ku band, known for its spectrum purity and up to 50% energy savings for 400W and 750W output power, and the R&S GSACSM Realtime Satellite Monitoring solution. The GSACSM system offers satellite operators the ability to implement remote monitoring use cases, such as interference detection and SatCom transponder analysis, through real-time automation of SatCom link analysis.
