Synamedia will showcase AI content-aware video processing for live sports, pVMAF and ad insertion, making it easier and more cost-effective to scale to millions while minimising latency.
Video software provider Synamedia will showcase a suite of cutting-edge video network solutions, cementing its role as a key technology partner for sports streaming services at IBC 2024. Among the innovations are AI-powered content-aware video processing for live sports, advanced ad insertion, pVMAF for optimised network usage and new CDN technologies. These solutions help broadcasters easily launch self-service applications, scale to millions of viewers and minimise latency while focusing on return on investment.
Synamedia will debut new cloud services at the event, tailored to support major sports events and onboard users to SaaS and managed services. These services, operated from its Cloud Operations Centre in Bangalore, use AI and DevOps to streamline processes, reduce costs and enhance performance. Synamedia’s integration of Quortex SaaS solutions further strengthens its cloud offering, with new customers joining monthly, including NATO, which benefits from the platform’s multi-tenant environment for efficiency and scalability.
In addition to its growing cloud customer base, Synamedia will demonstrate its Quortex Link platform, offering low-latency distribution and live event support, with a new operational dashboard for easy management. Quortex PowerVu support for VVC encoding is also reducing distribution costs, while the MEG and MEG.mini gateways support VVC with edge transcoding.
The company will also showcase AI-driven live captioning in collaboration with AI-Media, providing high-quality captioning for live sports at reduced operational costs. Synamedia’s leadership in video compression will be highlighted through its Quortex Play AI compression framework, cutting bitrates by up to 30% without sacrificing video quality, thanks to AI and machine learning enhancements.
Additionally, Synamedia will present its multi-CDN content steering solution and ad insertion technology for low-latency streaming, offering personalised and interactive ad experiences such as shoppable ads. In its innovation corner, the company will feature pVMAF, a neural network-based metric to optimize video quality for different sports content.
Synamedia’s ongoing collaborations with partners such as Amazon Web Services, Bitmovin and Intel will be on display, alongside its expanded sales network, which now includes SHM Broadcast in Germany, MoMe in Spain, and NDT in China.
Julien Signes, EVP of Video Network, Synamedia, said: “Our customers are clear that they are hyper-focused on ROI and every decision they take is through that lens. To meet customers’ evolving needs we are continually innovating to achieve major breakthroughs in streaming, such as the 95% cloud savings we achieved with Telia earlier this year. Another example is how we helped Televisa cut costs by switching to MEG gateways for its video distribution to 180 stations across Mexico.”
