For the first time, V-Nova will demonstrate its hierarchical data encoding technology for AI vision applications at the all-new IBC 2024 AI Tech Zone.
V-Nova, a provider of data compression solutions, video technology, XR solutions and AI acceleration, has announced its expanded participation at IBC 2024, set to take place from September 13-16 in Amsterdam. For the first time, V-Nova will feature in the new IBC 2024 AI Tech Zone, located in Hall 14, AI03. This zone highlights how AI is transforming media and entertainment, with demos from top tech companies. V-Nova’s display will focus on how its hierarchical data encoding technology accelerates AI vision applications, including a demonstration of how SMPTE VC-6 can enhance AI object detection and recognition, boosting detection speeds by five times and improving media metadata tagging efficiency.
The showcase will also explain how hierarchical and parallel data structures can speed up and improve AI inference, facilitate faster training of new large language models (LLMs), and move AI compute to the edge. These innovations are vital for AI applications like low-latency, real-time generative AI, intelligent edge applications, and robotics.
In addition to its AI focus, V-Nova will support the return of the MPEG-5 LCEVC (Low Complexity Enhancement Video Coding) Showcase, now in its third year, alongside over 40 other companies. Located in Hall 5 (B40 and A24), this exhibit will demonstrate interoperable solutions using LCEVC-enabled encoders, players and consumer devices across several use cases, including pixel streaming applications. This year’s showcase will feature content co-produced by V-Nova Studios, using the Lumiere V-Nova PresenZ cinematic 6DoF format.
Key areas covered in the showcase include VR/XR and Cloud Gaming, Broadcasting and pay-TV, Social Media, OTT Streaming and Ultra-Low Latency applications for cloud gaming and pixel streaming. Notably, V-Nova will demonstrate immersive 6DoF experiences using the V-Nova PresenZ format, streamed with LCEVC and Nvidia NVENC, a collaboration set to unlock a multi-billion-dollar market in XR narrative media.
In Broadcasting and pay-TV, V-Nova will present LCEVC-capable chipsets, set-top boxes, and an LCEVC-compatible Hisense TV decoding 4Kp60 10-bit HDR content. For Social Media, LCEVC-enhanced apps will be showcased, improving video delivery, reducing costs and enhancing end-user experiences. In OTT Streaming, LCEVC’s compatibility with iOS, Android, Apple TV and Web will be featured, demonstrating cost-efficient, high-quality streaming. In Cloud Gaming, LCEVC will enhance Kyber’s latest SDK for low-latency, low-bandwidth content streaming.
V-Nova’s contributions to MPEG-5 LCEVC will also be highlighted in two conference sessions at IBC 2024. Guido Meardi, CEO of V-Nova, will discuss accelerating AI by over five times through hierarchical data encoding on September 13. Fabio Murra, SVP of Product & Marketing at V-Nova, will present a session on the future of television and broadcast innovations from Brazil’s summer sporting event on September 14.
Guido Meardi, CEO of V-Nova, said: “V-Nova’s commitment to MPEG-5 LCEVC is stronger than ever, and we are excited by the constant progress in adoption across so many impactful use cases. The LCEVC Showcase at IBC includes support from over 40 companies, including the likes of NVIDIA, Hisense, AMD and many others. Cutting-edge innovation is intrinsic to V-Nova’s R&D and to our technologies, and this year we will showcase the benefits of our hierarchical approach in AI LMM, enabling faster training, better and faster inference and the move of AI to the edge.”
V-Nova’s ongoing collaboration with Nvidia will also be on display, showcasing LCEVC transcoding powered by Nvidia NVENC. This solution provides ultra-high-quality video transcoding and low-latency encoding for cloud gaming and pixel streaming, leveraging new NVENCODE APIs to enhance visual quality, increase throughput, and reduce costs.
