Dubai Culture wraps up fourth edition of ‘Al Marmoom: Film in the Desert’ festival

The recipients were chosen from a diverse group of multi-disciplinary creatives, including filmmakers, writers, curators, painters, designers, performance artists and others from across the UAE.
This open call targets all emerging filmmakers and directors, whether working individually or in groups.
In the documentary category, the coveted first place went to 'Gaza Fish,' while the award for the animation category was claimed by 'Flower.'
Through this event, the authority aims to open new horizons for filmmakers, providing a platform to showcase their works and diverse stories to the audience.
The deadline for submitting original short films is October 1, 2023.
The aim of this cooperation is to further empower and advance Dubai’s cultural and creative sector.
The festival has brought together emerging and established artists and filmmakers to reflect their visions of ‘Stories at One with Nature.’
The film festival will take place in December and the deadline for receiving entries to its short film competition has been extended to October 7.
Participation is open until September 23, with the three best films receiving cash rewards.
A new studio space will provide a common meeting place for the music, technology, and visual arts communities.
Launched in April, Al Quoz Creative Zone is set to be a new hub for creative businesses, located in the industrial Dubai neighbourhood of Al Quoz.
The project aims to preserve both the region’s tangible and intangible heritage for future generations.
Applications for the competition will be accepted until September 15 and the three winning entries will be announced on October 15, 2020.
