MAD World acquires surrealist refugee drama ‘Xoftex’ ahead of Karlovy Vary premiere

MAD World will be spearheaded by MAD Solutions co-founders Alaa Karkouti and Maher Diab, as well as third Managing Partner, Colin Brown, who will all assume Co-President titles.
In addition to the panels, the ACC will reveal a new edition of its Arab Cinema Magazine.
The film is produced by Amjad Abu Alala’s Station Films and co-produced by Ali Alarabi, CEO and founder of Ambient Light.
The project has received support from El Gouna Film Festival, the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, the Doha Film Institute and Red Sea fund.
Under the supervision of Kareem Samy, the executive director of MAD Celebrity, Angie Skaik will be managing MAD Crew Celebrity.
Written and directed by Bassel Ghandour, the film stars Emad Azmi, Baraka Rahmani, Munther Rayahneh, Maisa Abd Elhadi, Nadira Omran, and Nadim Rimawi.
The jurors will evaluate the nominated films using the Festival Scope digital platform, which is a partner of the ACC.
With the aim to discover the Arab world, EFP and the ACC launched the Arab Critics' Award for European Films in 2019 dedicated to European cinema.
The event, in its fifth year, celebrated the best Arab films that have come out of the region in the past year.
