The 2Africa landing is one of several cable landings taking place across 46 locations in 33 countries.
At 45,000km, the project is the longest subsea cable ever deployed, serving communities that rely on the internet throughout all three continents.
With Retelit providing the fronthaul, Vodafone, the 2Africa landing party in Genoa, has partnered with Equinix to land the cable directly into the Equinix Carrier Neutral Data Center.
Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) has been selected to deploy the new branches.
