With this approval, Viasat has kicked off an internet trial in five Nigerian communities to connect approximately 15,000 people.
The MoU would facilitate the release of contiguous bandwidth in a suitable frequency spectrum band(s) for the early deployment of 5G services in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The NCC hopes to address the dearth of infrastructure and services in the region with technologies, inclusive of 5G, broadband satellite services, and others.
Earlier in January, the NCC issued landing permits to 55 space stations to provide coverage over Nigerias territory.
